Recently, Chicken Inasal topped the Top 100 Filipino Foods 2024 list published by TasteAtlas - an online guide to authentic local dishes. This dish, which took first place, represents a unique Filipino grilled chicken dish originating from the town of Bacolod and has become a flagship dish for the entire Visayas region. The chicken meat is marinated in a mixture of vinegar, lemongrass, garlic, and ginger.
Preparing chicken inasal includes grilling and basting it with its flavorful oil with added annatto, which gives the dish its characteristic golden color and a slight peppery note. This dish is best paired with rice and served with seasoned vinegar to achieve the perfect balance between smoky and sour flavors.
The Top 100 list also features delicious desserts: Leche Flan took 3rd place, followed by Turon in 14th position, Taho in 24th, Ube Halaya in 30th, Pichi-Pichi in 33rd, Nata de Coco in 36th, Brazo de Mercedes in 41st, while Sapin-Sapin rounds out the top with 48th place.
