Fugitive Apprehended in Philippines

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) of the Philippines reported the apprehension of a fugitive wanted under an Interpol alert and a U.S. arrest warrant. The 54-year-old Tsai Chin Hao was intercepted on November 22 aboard the cruise ship MV Star Navigator, which arrived from Kaohsiung, Taiwan. As the vessel entered Philippine territory, a team of eight immigration officers detected the Interpol alert and immediately coordinated with concerned operating units. Upon the ship's arrival at the Port of Currimao in Ilocos Norte, Tsai was turned over to the BI Fugitive Search Unit. Deportation proceedings are already underway. The BI stated that the former U.S. citizen is facing charges of money laundering and illegal gambling under Title 18, Sections 2 of 1955(a) and 1956(a)(1) of the United States Code.
