Earlier this week, former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte flew to Manila on a plane heading to The Hague after he was summoned under a mandate issued by the International Criminal Court, accusing him of crimes against humanity, his lawyer reported.
"We are simply following a legal process. President Duterte is always ready to defend himself," the lawyer stated.
At this time, Duterte is leaving the country on the day of his 77th birthday, not disclosing how long he plans to stay abroad, nor has he announced when he will return to the Philippines.
