
The International Criminal Court announced today, in a statement, that it has received a request for the former President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte to consider charges against him for committing crimes against humanity during the bloody campaign against drug users during his presidency. The court stated in the announcement that it ensured "as a precautionary measure, medical assistance" at the Duterte airport in accordance with standard procedures adopted when arriving any suspected.
Human rights groups and family members of victims expressed their approval of Duterte's arrest yesterday in Manila at the International Criminal Court, as announced by the new Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos.
