Presidential Palace Press Secretary Claire Castro responded to Senator Imee Marcos after her comments on President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s health, stating that his condition worsened because no one was properly taking care of him. In a message to reporters, Castro dismissed the senator's remarks, urging her to be sincere and emphasizing that the President's health should not be taken lightly. "Do not make a joke out of the President's health. A person who has been through an illness needs a true heart and care," Castro said. She also added, "Do not be plastic in the eyes of the majority." Earlier, Senator Marcos had said that the President, her brother, fell ill because no one was looking after him. Castro, however, clarified that President Marcos was placed under medical observation last Thursday after experiencing discomfort. He was brought to St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City and has since returned to Malacañang Palace, where he resumed his official duties. The 68-year-old President disclosed that he experienced diverticulitis, noting that the condition is common among individuals under heavy stress and those advancing in age. He assured the public that his condition was not serious.
