Filipino cuisine continues to conquer the global palate, as the Tortang Talong, a beloved eggplant omelet from the country, has been recognized as the second best-rated dish in the world according to the Taste Atlas ranking. With a score of 4.4 out of 5 stars, Tortang Talong secured the second spot right behind the popular Japanese dish, Tamago, which also garnered a score of 4.4.

Taste Atlas describes Tortang Talong as "a simple Filipino dish made from a combination of fried eggplants and beaten eggs. Whole eggplants are charred over an open flame and then quickly fried in a mixture of eggs to form a crusty omelet."

"This universal comfort food easily adapts with the addition of ingredients, such as fish and vegetables, and is traditionally served with steamed rice and tomato or banana ketchup," wrote Taste Atlas on its website.

The dish has also been noted for its accessibility, ease of preparation, and rich smoky flavor. "Accessible and quick to prepare, Tortang Talong can be enjoyed at any time of the day as a satisfying breakfast, lunch, or dinner," added the food guide.
