P10.7 Million Livelihood Aid for OFWs Distributed

The Migrant Workers' Office (DMW) distributed a total amount of 10.7 million pesos in the form of assistance to the livelihood of 1,067 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) across the country, receiving support in the amount of 10,000 pesos each. This has become part of the largest single distribution in the history of the Balik Pinay, Balik Hanapbuhay (BPBH) program, which is aimed at providing support to returning OFWs in a difficult situation. The distribution took place on March 17, 2025, and as a result, 1,067 women OFWs received assistance. The event was attended by the Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers, Hans Leo Cacdac, and the Secretary of the Department of Budget and Management, Amenah F. Pangandaman, of which 128 recipients were from the National Capital Region (NCR), and 939 people from 15 other regions.

The BPBH program is developed with the aim of reducing the socio-economic vulnerabilities of women OFWs by providing them with opportunities for livelihood support. The assistance is directed towards supporting initiatives for self-employment and expanding job prospects in their communities. The measures for the distribution of funds involved participants from various regional offices of the DMW, with Region XII (SOCCSKSARGEN) recording the largest number of recipients - 185 women OFWs received assistance. Western Visayas, Davao, and Central Luzon also saw a significant number of recipients.
