Philippine peso's purchasing power weakens as inflation rises

The Philippine peso has lost value over eight years, with inflation hitting a 20-month high, according to the PSA.


The purchasing power of the Philippine peso has weakened over the past eight years as inflation continued to rise, reaching its fastest pace in 20 months in March, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). During a press briefing, National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa said that P1 in 2018 is now worth only 75 centavos.
