Philippines to Release Year-End Bonuses Early

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) of the Philippines announced that it will provide the annual bonus and cash gift to government employees starting with the first salary payment of November 2024. Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman shared information that Executive Order 2024-3 has been issued, outlining the amendments to the previous guidelines on the payment of these benefits. The updates amend Section 6.1 of Executive Order 2016-4, which previously stipulated that annual bonuses and cash gifts should be distributed no later than November 15 of each year.

According to the recent circular, government employees will receive an annual bonus equal to one monthly salary based on their salary as of October 31, as well as a cash gift of 5,000 Philippine pesos; both will be paid along with the first salary of the month in November.

"In the first salary payment in November, the annual bonus and cash gift for government employees will be disbursed," said Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman. "Instead of the existing policy to pay these benefits no later than November 15 of the year, qualified personnel will be provided with their annual bonus and cash gift simultaneously with the first salary payment of the agency for November," she added.

DBM is also improving the optimization of the salary payment process for each agency to reduce the internal reasons for delays in the payment of benefits.
