President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. noted that the Holy Month of Ramadan is a time for personal reflection and a renewed commitment to faith for Muslims. In his address, he expressed solidarity with the Muslim community during this sacred time dedicated to the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad. Marcos described Ramadan as a period of spiritual growth, self-improvement, and urges to practice kindness towards those in need.
"Acts of fasting, prayer, and charity foster solidarity and a sense of belonging, transforming communities and promoting social change," he noted. Ramadan, the monthly observance practiced by Muslims around the world, encourages abstention from food and drink from dawn until sunset, as well as the performance of prayers and charitable deeds.
The start of Ramadan each year is determined by religious scholars, observing the appearance of the new moon.
