Vice President Duterte Calls for Peace During Ramadan

Vice President Sara Duterte addressed Philippine Muslims on Sunday with a call to "pray for peace and forgiveness" during the holy month of Ramadan. Duterte emphasized the importance of embodying the values of sacrifice and restraint during Ramadan.

"I call upon our Muslim brothers and sisters to help us pray for peace and forgiveness as we face all the obstacles that confront us in our personal lives and as a nation," said Duterte in a video message.

The Vice President, who may seek to run for the Senate in July, also instilled a belief in "looking forward to a future with hope and optimism for an inclusive and sustainable future" for the nation.

According to Islamic tradition, Muslims around the world will refrain from eating, drinking, and other physical needs, observing the fast from dawn until sunset during Ramadan, which this year will be observed from March 2 to March 31.
