The operator of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) announced plans to install three new devices in Terminal 3 to improve baggage handling. The new Ninoy Aquino Infra Corporation (NNIC) will begin the system for detecting explosive substances for baggage handling in July of this year, promising to have it installed by the beginning of next year.

In October, hundreds of Cebu Pacific passengers faced delays in retrieving baggage due to technical problems. However, NNIC confirmed that measures are in place to ensure uninterrupted safety and efficiency in operations in case of malfunctions in the old 20-year system.

The operator also launched an initiative allowing passengers to receive operational updates on flight and baggage delays through the airport's public notification system. This will help reduce confusion and stress among passengers, aiding them in making informed decisions.

Besides this, NNIC promises to improve infrastructure issues at the airport over three years, including conditions at the takeoff-landing area and commercial spaces. Passengers can expect immediate improvements in the systems for air conditioning, power supply, water delivery, internet connectivity, and other servicing objects.
