Miss Universe Philippines Chelsea Manalo stunned the audience at the 73rd Miss Universe competition in Mexico on November 15 with her captivating national costume named "Hiraya." Renowned designer Manny Halasan created the gown and accessories for Manalo, seamlessly blending tradition with modern elegance.
The ensemble, paying tribute to the Philippines' religious heritage, featured a stunning gold and blue gown adorned with symbols of devotion. It included an intricate silver and gold headpiece and incorporated the image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in the gown's train, reflecting Manalo's faith.
"Definitely the best national costume the Philippines has showcased on the Miss Universe stage," one admirer commented. Another added, "The intricate detailing and embellishments on Miss Philippines' national costume are stunning."
In an Instagram post, Manalo shared, "Hiraya is a vision of what will become... It is clear in your mind, and it speaks truthfully in your heart." She expressed her belief in faith's ability to guide individuals through life, regardless of their religion.
Manalo is competing for the Miss Universe title to secure the Philippines' fifth Miss Universe crown. Her message during the event reinforced the idea that with prayer, dedication, and hard work, anything is achievable in God's perfect timing.
