Authorities in the Philippines announced the evacuation of more than 250,000 people and the return of boats to ports due to the approaching typhoon.

Preparations for the arrival of the typhoon continue in the country. More than 250,000 residents have been evacuated across the country. Authorities have also returned boats to their homes.

"We call for compliance with safety protocols, maintaining physical distancing, and wearing masks to prevent COVID-19," stated Luis Quisumbing, mayor of La Union in the north of the country.

Forecasters warned that the typhoon could cause flooding and landslides in several provinces.
