Pia Vurcbach decided she could no longer tolerate online hatred directed towards her. The former Miss Universe shared a screenshot of a nasty direct message on her Instagram story, in which a user criticized her choice of clothing and even expressed a desire for her to divorce her husband, Jeremy Johnson. The message read: 'Soon the divorce will happen, soon he will realize that you are using him and you can offer nothing.' The user also made a harsh comment about Pia and her future relationships.
Responding to the negativity, Pia wrote: 'Once again, one day, again LS. Also on [Chinese New Year],' adding, 'It hurts and, to be honest, it’s painful. Wild, isn't it?' and called on her followers to stop normalizing hateful online behavior. 'Let’s stop normalizing such online behavior. A new year at the door. Let’s be kind to each other and support and uplift one another,' Pia said.
This is not the first time Pia has addressed online haters. Previously, she asked the Organization Miss Universe to block nasty users and advocated for a good community with hashtags like #NotTheNastyGirl. Recently, she also responded to criticism from those who did not approve of her attendance at Fashion Week, reminding everyone that it’s about solidarity among women, not pitting them against each other and focusing on supporting each other.
