Cardiologist and social networks activist Dr. Uilli Ong announced on Thursday, February 13, his withdrawal from the race for the Senate seat in 2025, stating that he needs to focus on his health due to a continuing battle with cancer.

In his message on Facebook, Dr. Uilli expressed gratitude to his supporters and confirmed his readiness to continue promoting benevolent governance, saying: "I sincerely thank everyone who supported me and prayed for me. I will continue to support benevolent governance and candidates who share my ideals."

Despite stepping back from the electoral race, he remains devoted to protecting the welfare of the underprivileged within his personal capabilities.

Dr. Uilli announced last September that doctors discovered a cancerous tumor in his abdominal cavity, which was located near his heart and in front of the esophagus. Initially, his candidacy was introduced by his wife, Dr. Liza Ong, while he was undergoing treatment in Singapore.

This marks Dr. Uilli's third attempt to run for national office after previously participating in the Senate elections in 2019 and running for vice president in 2022.
