The Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Los Angeles, California, along with the Office of the Police Attaché – Liaison Office in the U.S. West Coast (OPA-LOWC), provided repatriation assistance to an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in distress. This OFW had faced numerous challenges, including losing their job, experiencing bullying at work, financial difficulties, and coping with depression after a family tragedy.
Thanks to the DMW AKSYON Fund, the distressed worker was given the necessary support to return to the Philippines. This assistance will enable the OFW to reunite with their family and start afresh in their home country. Labor Attaché Macy Monique Maglanque highlighted that the OFW had expressed a strong desire to begin a new life in the Philippines.
In a statement, Maglanque mentioned, "Today, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac have fulfilled this wish, which became a reality through the DMW AKSYON Fund."
