Despite being observed during the Holy Week, the government continued to provide assistance to Filipino workers overseas who need to return home. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) conducted a series of repatriation missions during the time of the religious observance. On Maundy Thursday, 20 Filipinos returned from Kuwait via a flight, arriving at terminal 1 of NAIA airport. Their return was part of the ongoing efforts of OWWA to assist Filipino citizens abroad who find themselves in vulnerable situations. "Among the funded by OWWA, assistance continues to be provided to each OFW," the administration stated. Repatriation entails the return of someone to their home country, especially after problems abroad. These individuals were part of a repatriation program for those who had found themselves in difficult situations overseas. The next day, on Good Friday, financial assistance was distributed among 21 Filipinos who had arrived from Cambodia. These workers were also classified as being in difficult situations and needing support for their return. By Holy Thursday, another 22 Filipinos returned home from Israel through terminal 3 of NAIA airport. OWWA ensures safe returns and provides additional help such as transportation and financial support, as needed.
