DMW Reevaluates Policies for Filipino Workers to Kuwait

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is revising its policies regarding Filipino migrants working in Kuwait to enhance protection, especially for domestic workers. This comes after recent tragic incidents, including the death of Jenny Alvarado, who was found dead after having been missing for two months, and Dafni Nakalaban, whose body was discovered later.

The Minister of Migrant Workers, Hans Leo Cacdac, confirmed that the department is studying more stringent measures, including possible restrictions on the employment of individuals without work experience abroad and implementing pre-employment briefing systems and monitoring.

The department expressed condolences to the families of the deceased workers and promised to continue investigating their cases. Additionally, Senator Raffy Tulfo, during a Senate hearing, recommended a complete ban on the employment of Filipino domestic workers in Kuwait until the current system is improved.
