
President Bongbong Marcos directed the official letter to the Senate with a confirmation of the urgency of enacting the law on the transfer of the first regular elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. According to a statement by the Office of the President, the new law is extremely important for restructuring the administrative structure of the transitional government of Bangsamoro with the aim of ensuring the achievement of regional unity, inclusivity, and genuine autonomy.
The President also forwarded a copy of the letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Martin Romualdez, and to the Secretary of Legislative Affairs and the head of the House of Representatives' Committee on Intergovernmental Relations. The bill is directed to be considered in the Senate as an urgent document. The text of the bill is aimed at amending Article XVI, Section 13 of the Organic Law for the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The importance of this initiative is explained by the necessity of transferring the elections to preserve stability and ensure efficient functioning of the management system in the region during the transition to the new management structure. Confirming the urgency of this legislative initiative, the President appealed to the Senate with a request for its prompt approval.
