Former spokesman Vic Rodriguez stated that he has no personal differences with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., despite his recent resignation from the cabinet in 2022. Appearing on the program "The Newsmaker" on NewsWatch Plus, the senatorial candidate said that his departure was prompted by the pressure from those surrounding the president to appoint certain key government positions.
"They were trying to appoint various people, but they were not qualified. I stood my ground during all this time that I worked in the position of spokesman, fighting against lobbyists for preferred positions that really did not deserve it," he said. Rodriguez stated that there is no bad blood between him and the president.
"We have no personal issues, we have no fights," he added. In an interview with reporters, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed trust in Rodriguez, inviting him to a drug test due to his past actions.
"He has always had these weaknesses whenever he was with me. If you believe what he says, then why did he work for me?" the president said.
