Criticism of VP Sara Duterte by Akbayan Rep. Cendaña

Akbayan Representative Perci Cendaña has criticized Vice President Sara Duterte's recent call for divine intervention by suggesting that she has not proven effective in managing crucial areas under her leadership, such as the Department of Education (DepEd) and the West Philippine Sea. Cendaña cautioned against invoking God's name when there are outstanding corruption and other critical issues that remain unaddressed.

In response to Duterte's casual comparison of the impeachment complaint against her to a failed relationship, Cendaña emphasized the importance of prioritizing public service and accountability over trivializing such serious matters. He further disapproved of Duterte's denial of accusations related to an alleged assassination plot, stating that it could worsen her political standing.

Meanwhile, Surigao del Norte Representative Robert Ace Barbers, aligning with Cendaña, highlighted the significance of upholding due process rather than immediately resorting to calls for resignation. Barbers also refuted allegations of bribery among those who supported the impeachment complaint, stressing the necessity of transparency and accountability in such proceedings.

Barbers clarified that President Marcos doesn't hold sway over the House's decisions, emphasizing that all Filipinos wish for the country's welfare. He acknowledged Duterte's invocation of "God save the Philippines," but hinted that it might simply serve as a slogan without substantial depth in meaning.
