Today, on Monday, the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines stated that China needs to recognize that the Philippines is an independent state with sovereignty, and that all their actions and decisions are taken in full independence.
"We always emphasize that we must treat China as a partner and colleague, but they must also respect our sovereignty and our right to make our own decisions," said the representative of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.
The department also added that China's recent actions in the region contribute to increased tensions and do not contribute to peace and stability in the area.
