The Malacañang has announced that there is no need for a review of the pending cases among the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). This came after the spread of rumors about possible suspensions related to the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte on charges of crimes against humanity. In a press briefing, the substitute spokesperson of the Presidential Communications Office, Claire Castro, confirmed that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. fully trusts the police and military. 'Nobody is going on suspension, according to General Fajardo,' she added. The DND and AFP also confirmed that there are no suspensions or absences among their ranks.
General Jan Fajardo also confirmed the rumors about suspensions related to the powers of the government regarding Duterte’s transfer to the International Criminal Court (ICC). 'There is no truth in the claims that someone has gone on suspension if it is related to the transfer of authority from the former President Duterte to the ICC through Interpol. No, because the President is confident that the actions of the administration are in accordance with the law,' she said.
In relation to Castro, the official representative of PNP Brigadier General dismissed that the actions of the current administration violate the law. Castro clarified that the President has no kind of authority regarding the transfer of these forces. 'Review for what pending cases?'
