The upcoming 2025 elections will introduce a new system allowing overseas Filipinos to vote online during a 30-day period, running from April 13 to May 12. This marks a significant shift in the way overseas voting is conducted, moving towards a more accessible digital platform. Filipinos living abroad are urged to take part in the pre-enrollment period to secure their right to vote.
During the pre-enrollment period, which begins on March 20 and ends on May 7, 2025, overseas voters need to complete this process to be eligible for online voting. The pre-enrollment is mandatory for all registered overseas voters who wish to cast their ballots online for senators and party-list representatives. To verify eligibility, voters can check the Certified List of Overseas Voters on the official COMELEC website.
In the UAE, Filipino residents can complete the pre-enrollment process using an official link provided by COMELEC starting March 20. An active email address and phone number are required during pre-enrollment, where voters will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) for verification. The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi will share the enrollment link once available.
The introduction of the Online Voting and Counting System (OVCS) aims to make voting more convenient for overseas Filipinos, providing them with the opportunity to participate in the democratic process from anywhere. OVCS kiosks will be set up at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai for voters needing assistance.
Every election is a chance for Filipinos to influence the future of their country, and this opportunity extends to overseas workers as well. By pre-enrolling and casting their votes online, overseas Filipinos can ensure that their voices are heard and contribute to shaping the nation's direction.
