Former DILG Secretary and current senatorial candidate Benhur Abalos spoke in a video message asking Filipinos to give him five minutes to introduce himself. In a brief and simple message, Abalos shared his experience in public service and his advocacy in his campaign.
"I am Benhur Abalos," he said at the beginning. "Although the work is tough, I am ready to do this for you. Just five minutes." He emphasized that although his last name is new in the Senate, he has long served in various government positions, such as Councilor, Mayor, Congressman of Mandaluyong, MMDA Chairman, and DILG Secretary. However, despite these, Abalos stated that he does not wish to boast about them.
In his main goal, Abalos stated that he wants to amend the Rice Tariffication Law to strengthen the National Food Authority (NFA) and support Filipino farmers. He added that he wants to use his position to advocate for lower electricity charges by reducing taxes on energy charges.
Additionally, one of Abalos' priorities is to address the needs of more Filipino families to have their own homes. He is also amending the Local Government Code to improve the services provided by local governments and the incentives given to job order and service contractual workers.
In his message, Abalos showed his determination to serve and promote the welfare of Filipinos. "My desire to serve you in the Senate is growing stronger," he said. At the same time, he expressed gratitude to those supporting his campaign.
