President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has encouraged Filipinos living abroad to engage in shaping the future of their nation by participating in the 2025 elections through online voting. He emphasized the significance of this opportunity in a video message saying, "Let us use this right. With the right choices, we will build the New Philippines together." The President assured Filipinos overseas that the process of online voting will be both convenient and secure, allowing for a quick and efficient way to make their voices heard.
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) initiated the pre-enrollment for online voting on March 20, 2025, through the COMELEC Voting Portal. The overseas voting period is scheduled to take place from April 13 to May 12, 2025, giving ample time for Filipinos residing abroad to cast their votes. President Marcos noted that the digital platform makes voting significantly easier for Filipinos worldwide, eliminating the need to stand in queues or travel to physical polling stations.
President Marcos further urged the overseas Filipino community to carefully select candidates who exhibit care, capability, and strong principles. The online voting process will conclude at 3:00 PM in Dubai and 7:00 PM Philippine Standard Time on May 12, which has also been declared a special non-working holiday under Proclamation No. 878. This initiative aims to engage Filipinos globally in actively participating in the democratic process and helping shape the future of the Philippines.
