Former Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin denied reports that he resigned from his Cabinet post, contrary to statements made by MalacaƱang. "I don't know how it started that I resigned. I did not resign," Bersamin said. Bersamin also rejected allegations linking him to the controversy over the P52 billion flood control projects. "I vehemently deny the imputation against me that I said anything to Secretary Claire Castro that 'we will take care of it' regarding the supposed facilitation of the P52 billion," he said. He added that former DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, cited as a source of the claims, could not be considered credible. The remarks came after Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo "Ping" Lacson said Bersamin would "take care" of the P52 billion insertions in the budget, citing information from Bernardo. On Monday, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Cherie Nograera-Sala said she was not aware of Bersamin's resignation. "Maybe that was announced but I have no resignation filed... It's nice to hear 'out of delicadeza' but that's not true," Bersamin said.
