The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will issue a show cause order to Senator Rodante Marcoleta regarding an alleged discrepancy between his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) and his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) for the 2025 elections. Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said the show cause order will be sent to the senator next week, giving him an opportunity to explain. Marcoleta previously admitted that he did not include certain donations from friends in his SOCE because they wished to remain anonymous. Garcia also warned that any candidate found to have submitted false information in their SOCE could face penalties, including imprisonment for one to six years, perjury, or falsification of public documents.
