Veteran broadcast journalist Jessica Soho stated that her greatest fear is not the hazards of reporting, but the country's persistent political and economic problems. Soho, known for covering dangerous assignments including a detonated mine in Afghanistan, shared her concerns at a press conference for the film 'Gabi ng Lagim.' She noted that the nation's 'downward spiral' of corruption and recurring crises continues to threaten ordinary Filipinos. 'The downward spiral I mentioned earlier, this continuous bad situation in our society,' she said. 'Those who are corrupt, they are okay, they can leave anytime. What about us? They have stolen so much wealth.' She lamented that she has been reporting on the same corruption and economic problems since the 1980s. 'We saw this in the 1980s... We survived, but I hope there won't be a round two, that's enough,' she said. 'The fact that we cannot get out of this hole is scary,' Soho added. 'Those who are corrupt are okay, they can leave anytime. But what about us? They have stolen so much wealth.'
