Chinese Nationals Arrested in Philippines for Visa Violations

The Philippine Bureau of Immigration apprehended a Chinese citizen working without a proper visa in Zamboanga City. The 40-year-old man was arrested on February 2 at a cellphone and accessories store in Barangay Zone 3. Verification revealed his work visa was petitioned by a Quezon City company, making his employment in Zamboanga a violation of immigration laws. "The Bureau of Immigration remains committed to pursuing foreign nationals who abuse their stay and violate Philippine laws," stated Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado. In a separate operation the same day in Tabuk City, a 57-year-old Chinese man was arrested for managing a commercial establishment without a visa. He had overstayed and lacked original travel documents. Three more Chinese nationals were apprehended for similar violations. All six were transported to Manila for processing and possible deportation.
