Due to the tropical storm, the Philippine Senate announced the suspension of work at government agencies today. However, committee meetings will proceed as planned. According to a statement from Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr., this decision was made in connection with adverse weather conditions caused by the storm.
"Those who are required to report for work have the right to compensation for their work days," the statement said. At the same time, not all employees of the Secretariat are required to report for work, and Senate staff are exempt from this requirement.
The Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the detention of Apollo Kiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. The Senate committees on public services and finance are also holding scheduled discussions on the activities of the Land Transportation Office and on the issuance of licenses.
According to a published statement, in connection with the fact that scheduled committee meetings are planned for today, the Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero instructed the secretariat to ensure the presence of employees whose services are necessary for conducting these hearings.
