Former actor John Wayne Sykes was arrested on Tuesday on charges of murdering a 43-year-old man in the town of Pasig. According to information from Emil Sumangil of GMA News, Sykes shot four times at the victim, Laynel Evgeny, with a .45 caliber pistol. The incident occurred after the two, who were supposedly friends, quarrelled on October 28 in Barangay Sagad, in Pasig.
Sykes, as reported, hid for several hours in a public hotel. Police found weapons used in the shooting, as well as five gills. He is expected to undergo a test to check for trace evidence of gunshot residue on his hands and will be placed under police custody in Pasig.
Sykes was a participant in the male dance group Anim-e, which included artists Reyver and Rodjun Cruz. He also appeared in series including "May Bukas Pa," "Forevermore," and "Dekada '70."
