
During an interview with WAM at the World Government Summit 2025, Director-General of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Ernest John G. Peres stated the country's readiness to deepen cooperation with the UNODC to improve governance, combat corruption, and bureaucracy. He noted that the Philippines is currently digitizing government processes to accelerate administrative reforms and ensure effective management of state resources.
According to Peres, aiming to improve resource management and accelerate administrative reforms, the Philippine government can leverage the digital opportunities of the UNODC to optimize procedures, ensure transparency, reduce bureaucracy, and increase resilience to crises.
Peres emphasized that the Philippines has made significant progress in improving public services and using technology. They also collaborate with other countries to enhance mechanisms for responding to crises and improving government management.
