Fake Passport Scam Uncovered at Philippine Airport

Two Filipino women were detained at the international airport named Ninoy Aquino after authorities discovered that their documents were counterfeit. The women claimed they were heading to Thailand for a vacation, but they were suspected of being trafficked for online scam operations in Laos. Immigration officials grew suspicious when their answers to basic questions about each other and their travels did not match, revealing inconsistencies.

The women admitted that prior to arriving in Thailand, they were supposed to travel to Laos, where they were promised jobs as customer service operators with a monthly salary of 50,000 rupees. However, authorities suspected that they were being coerced into being trafficked for illicit operations. Immigration authorities warned that such operations could involve forced labor, physical abuse, and exploitation in case of non-compliance with trafficking quotas.
