The Philippine Olympic athlete stated that his doctor, Alexander Napali, allowed him to return to competitions, and he has fully recovered from the received injury. "I officially received clearance from Dr. Alexander Napali and fully recovered from my injury. Thanks to everyone who supported me on this journey," he wrote in a social media post.
In August, the athlete announced that he would not finish the remaining part of the 2024 season after sustaining a groin injury at this stage of the Diamond League in Silesia, where he finished fifth.
In 2025, Obiena is expected to have a busy season, during which he plans to participate in several international tournaments, including the Southeast Asian Games, where he is the three-time champion.
