Job Fairs to Boost Employment Nationwide

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced plans to hold a larger number of job fairs outside of Metro Manila to make employment opportunities more accessible for job seekers in provincial areas. Speaking at the Jobstreet job fair conference at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on January 29, Marcos emphasized that these initiatives aim to reduce the need for long commutes for those seeking work. "As we see, many people are looking for good job opportunities, and we will continue this program," said Marcos. The event, organized over two days with the support of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and other agencies, focused on creating 'quality jobs' with potential for career advancement or even entrepreneurship.

The president also reiterated that government support for workers should not only be focused on job placement but also emphasized the importance of providing quality job opportunities that ensure growth potential. "Regardless of what job they have, it should be quality work with opportunities for advancement or to start their own business," he added. The president highlighted the changing dynamics of the labor market and the need for workers to upgrade their qualifications to meet evolving industry demands.

The job fair offered more than 5,000 local and international job positions, with a strong emphasis on helping those who were affected by the closure of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).
